Are you ready for a fitness test?

Can you carry a gallon jug of milk or water in each hand without feeling strain?

This simple task uses a lot of muscles from your hands to your arms, back, shoulders and neck.  If you feel the strain, you could be more prone to injury and might need some strength training. Try these simple fitness tests to find your weak spots:

• Jump up and down 10 times. If your heart is racing you need to get moving more often and strengthen your cardiovascular health.

• Can you trim your toenails, standing up, without discomfort? Not being able to stretch past your toes means you’re too stiff. You’ll need to stretch more.

• Try a karate-style kick. If you can’t raise your foot as high as your hip, or keep your balance, it’s time start raising your fitness bar a bit.

• Look all the way behind you, without moving your feet. If that’s easy, you’ve got good core strength and flexibility.

• Now dance, to a fast beat for ten minutes. If you’re feeling winded, you need to do that more often. It’s good for both your mental and physical health and you’ll work up your endurance in no time.
