Should you buy an iPad or an Android?

There are a lot of choices out there in the world of tablets and the iPad is still king of the hill.

It costs a lot more than some other popular tablets – so should you buy one? Consumer Reports says yes – and here are their reasons:

1. iPad has the best apps first. Android is catching up but just isn’t there yet. Apple’s App Store is still the first platform choice for most developers and there are a lot of apps that are exclusive to Apple.

2. A clean, uncluttered home screen. The iPad doesn’t give you a lot of options when it comes to your home screen display – and that’s a good thing. Other tablets with folders, groupings and customized widgets can easily get cluttered and disorganized.

3. The operating system. Android tablets are all over the place when it comes to OS versions, and some apps don’t work on the older versions. Apple is just better at keeping their tablets and operating systems compatible.

If it all comes down to price, you can save anywhere from $50 to about $200 on a non-Apple tablet. Just be sure it’s going to be compatible with the apps and functions you want before taking the tablet plunge.
