It takes a real skunk to scam others in the name of charity – but something smells in some Ice Buckets.
While the ALS fundraiser is for real, scammers are trying to get in on the dumps, by sending and posting “must-see” ice bucket video links which may contain malicious software.
The software protection company Thirtyseven4 recently issued an alert warning voyeurs not to click on the “Robin Williams Final Video” and say now that high-profile celebrities are getting in on the Ice Bucket Challenge, related links are easy bait for cybercriminals.
If you’ve just got to see that funny or famous Ice Bucket Challenge, or if you’d like to donate to any high-profile cause, it’s best to go directly to the source, ie: alsa.org.
