If you’re the average parent, you’ll need $669.28 for back-to-school shopping.
The National Retail Federation numbers are in and that’s a 5% spike from last year. That grand total includes classroom supplies, electronics and clothes. More schools are asking parents to chip in with classroom supplies like hand wipes and tissues, which puts that the average school-supplies shopping list at 18 items, up from 14 last year.
Back-to-school shopping experts have run some numbers too and say it’s best to avoid office supply stores, drug stores and supermarkets. The best deals on back-to-school supplies are at Wal-Mart, Target and Dollar Days.
