Brad Hoover, CEO of Grammarly.com, says the word “try” is short, sweet and fraught with peril. He says you need get it off your resume, out of your emails and away from your vocabulary all together. Using the word “try” shows you lack belief, passion and confidence. It’s vague at best and suggests you won’t succeed.
There are dozens of synonyms for the word “try.” We’re better off using words like “do, believe, act, tackle or accomplish.”
