Hoping for a baby boy? That may cost you. The toll they take on their mothers...

It’s a boy! That’s the good news...
The bad news is, he could shorten your life a bit. New research from Finland is suggesting that having a boy may shorten the lifespan of the mother, especially if you have more than one. They blame the baby boys for higher levels of testosterone during pregnancy which can weaken Mommy’s immune system. Boys also grow faster in the womb and are usually heavier which is more of a strain on her body.

So how much of a toll will snakes and snails and puppy dog tails take on your life? Moms with sons in the study lived for an average of eight and a half months less than those with just daughters. Good news for Dad, that chip off the old block will have no effect on your lifespan.
