Are your ready for the solar tsunami?
Experts are abuzz about the potential superstorm on the sun that could have a big impact here on earth this year. Corey Powell at Discovery Magazine explains that the sun tends to flare up and get violent every 11 years - 2013 is the peak of that 11 year cycle. So what can we expect? Corey says that magnetized plasma will spew from the sun towards the earth and that we’ll likely experience power outages and overloaded satellites that will really mess with our GPS and cell technology. Worst case scenario: GLOBAL BLACKOUT.
Don't panic yet. It’s hard to know exactly when a solar superstorm will strike. It could be any day – in the next 100 years. However, several experts agree that we will likely see some serious solar action this summer or fall.
