And you CAN blame it on the weather. Professor Peter Collignon, an expert on infectious diseases, says he has no doubt that crummy weather can make us sick – but it’s not the weather itself. He says bad weather drives people indoors. That’s where the bacteria spread.
When we’re stuck inside we’re also getting less vitamin D and fresh air which are both important elements to a healthy immune system. The Professor says being cold will NOT give you a cold - staying inside until spring probably will.
