Mobile Life Saver

Your cell phone can be a REAL life saver – literally.

You’ve probably got something that could save your life right in your pocket – it’s your cell phone. At least one of these tools should work on yours.

• Use your ICE contact – rescue workers DO look for it. It stands for In Case of Emergency - and you should label someone in your contacts that way.

• If you can’t get a signal, you can post or tweet an S.O.S. Data service requires less of a signal than a call.

• Keep a list of medications or allergies in your phone – and add any important medical history or information.

• Smartphones have apps that work as GPS locators to find you – even if you’re not in condition or able to make a call.

Even if you keep your cell phone locked – you can usually set an emergency number on the home screen of newer phones that can be dialed without unlocking it. If you’re not sure how to do that – call your service provider and have your phone model handy.
