Dirty Trend
You won’t believe the trendy new item on some chic restaurant menus!
The next time you’re ordering at a trendy restaurant – consider the dirt! It’s one of the most popular items on the menu at some hot spots. So what is dirt? Don’t worry - it’s not something they dug up out back – or even imported from some fancy yard. Dirt is just a new trendy phrase for dried up ingredients fashioned into a tasty treat. It could be malt or mushrooms, olives or onions.
Some gourmet dirt is charred rather than dried. If you order up this variety – go easy on that. Food scientists warn us about eating charred or charcoal-like ingredients - due to carcinogens – regardless of how delicious that burnt dirt might be.
