If you’re considering roses for Valentine’s Day – make sure to get the right color...

Roses are red – or yellow, or pink or white...

Before you invest in a dozen – be sure you’re getting the right color for the right person. ProFlowers has a guide to help you choose:

• Red roses are the traditional symbol for love and romance. Those should be reserved for someone you have really deep and intimate feelings for.

• Pink roses symbolize grace and elegance – and are often given as an expression of admiration. They have a more subtle, innocent impact.

• Yellow roses evoke warmth and happiness – and symbolize true friendship and joy.

• White roses represent innocence and purity. Save those for marriages, new beginnings or remembrance.

• Orange roses are budding with desire and passion. Choose a pale orange bloom to set a warm, romantic sunset mood – or a darker vivid orange to convey a burning desire.

• Lavender roses are associated with fantasy and enchantment and represent love at first sight.

If the person you’re picking roses for already has a color preference, go with that – but consider adding one bloom of the appropriate color to the bunch to add some significance and romance to an otherwise predictable gift.
