Researchers at Duke University say they’ve discovered that physical affection, starting at an early age, helps to create permanent changes in a child’s brain. Those hugs have a direct effect on developing satisfaction and reward areas of the brain. Kids who are showered with affection through childhood are much less likely to seek out those sensations by experimenting with drugs.
