Spring is the season for getting rid of stuff – and a garage sale is a great way to do it. You can make a lot more money if you try these tricks:
• Open early – be ready to start selling stuff an hour before the start time you have advertised. That’s when the early-birds, antique dealers and collectors are most likely to check you out.
• Ask your neighbors to join in. If you advertise your sale as “multi-family” you’ll get much more traffic.
• BIG, FAT ARROWS. That is the most effective thing you can put on your sign. Drivers rely on that more than anything else on there.
