What Was I Thinking?

What was I thinking?

It can happen to anyone. What was I thinking? Even the most cautious and informed people make bad decisions from time to time. Stephen Greenspan, author of Why We Get Duped, tells us how to avoid some common decision making mistakes:

Trust statistics over stories. For example, if a certain model car has good reliability scores, pay attention to that as opposed to a friend's lemon story about that model.

Remember you are not the exception. Most people know home renovations run over budget, but still want to think that wont happen to them.
Be aware of your surroundings, they can have a big effect on your decisions, especially in the retail world. In a recent study, shoppers overwhelmingly chose a German wine when German music played, and French wine when the French music played.
