When Pigs Fly...

Most of us would rather NOT think about what’s in that hot dog while we’re eating it...

It’s not very appealing and it’s probably not much of a shock to learn that some less conventional animal parts go into the making of hot dogs. But wings? No, pigs don’t fly - yet - but insects do.

That was just one of the secret ingredients New York Times reporter Stephen Rex Brown discovered, after filing a Freedom of Information act. If you’re still hungry for more, some other ingredients included scrap metal, glass, a Band-Aid, the tip of a rubber glove, some mystery bones and a slug. And those were just the hot dogs individuals bothered to report to the USDA.
