Say What?

Humans aren’t the only ones who name their babies...

Choosing names for our children is a pretty human thing to do. Not many other species identify their young that way – but parrots do! They communicate with each other in their own very complex language - naming their chicks along the way. And they don’t just chirp out the same thing for all of their chicks - they have individual names for each one – and that name follows that parrot for life. After a chick is assigned their chirp by the parent parrot – they sometimes create their own nicknames by twisting their own tweet a little to suit their liking.
