The Waiter Rule
If you’re headed out on a date – or considering a business partner - you might want to invoke the Waiter Rule...
If your date is rude to the waiter – you might want it to be your last date. The Waiter Rule has been gaining popularity in judging character in all walks of life. Some behavior to watch out for is:
• Playing the power card
• Having a short fuse
• Demanding details
• Speaking in a condescending manner
• Making a public scene
• Bad tipper
CEO Bill Swanson is a big supporter of the Waiter Rule. He says he’s especially wary of people who are rude to those perceived to be in subordinate roles. If that person has a situational value system - or can turn that charm on and off – there’s a good chance it’s not the type of person you want to depend on personally or professionally.
