Geotagging

If you post a photo on line – you might as well post your address with it...

Geotagging embeds the exact location of where a picture is taken – within 15 feet! Not every picture out there has latitude and longitude on it – but if it was taken with a smart phone and posted – it probably does. Most smart phone users enjoy the maps and GPS features – but unfortunately once we enable that function – we’re giving that device permission to embed our exact location on lots of stuff – including photos. A seemingly harmless picture of your kids – or of something valuable posted for sale on line could be a HUGE security risk.

Most smartphone devices come with default settings which automatically enable this feature. For most models – the only way you can block your photos from being embedded – is to disable the maps and GPS features completely.
