If you’d like to do your body a healthy favor - have a beer.
Some brews are actually quite healthy, specifically those high in hops. According to Chris Meletis, the executive director of the Institute for Healthy Aging, the dried hop blossoms used in brewing beer contain two substances that can help regulate blood sugar, lower cholesterol, boost weight loss, relieve pain and fight inflammation.
Keep in mind, for a high hopped beer, you’ll need to look past the average Bud, Miller, Heineken, Coors or Sam Adams. Shop around for IPAs or Double IPAs from craft brewers. Stone Brewing IPA has a decent amount of hops and good for a beginners, as hops has a distinctive flavor. Hops is measured in IBUs, International Bitterness Units. Most IPAs will have 30-50% IBUs, Double IPAs can vary between 70-100%. If you’re ready to get hoppy, here are some good brews to try:
* Stone Brewing IPA
* Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
* Dogfish Head 60 or 90 Minute IPA
* Victory HopDevil
* Harpoon IPA
* Smuttynose IPA
* Laguinitas
