When it comes to products you put on your face or body, stay clear of those that are packaged in a jar-like container.
According to Bryan Barron, author of “Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me,” products designed for the skin should not be exposed to light or air. As soon as you open that product in a jar, it begins to break down - and dipping your fingers into a jar transfers bacteria from your hands into the product, causing the important ingredients to further deteriorate.
The best skin products to look for are those that come in a squeeze tube or a pump dispenser, especially if it contains anti-aging ingredients such as peptides, vitamin C or retinol.
