A pan of water under your pet’s food dish will keep the ants at bay, indoors or out. It creates a moat around the food, ants are terrible swimmers and won’t attempt to cross. The same trick can work for people too. Fill containers like tuna cans with water and place them under the legs of your picnic or patio table to keep the ants off.
