Can chewing gum help you lose weight? The truth...


If you’ve heard that chewing gum can help you stick to your diet and lose weight, that’s bad advice...

A recent study put gum chewing to the test with dieters and it actually hurt them in the long run. While the gum staved off snacking during actual chewing sessions, the majority of participants actually ate more after the fact than non-gum chewers. 

Mint-flavored gum was the worst choice for dieters. The researchers theorized that the mint gum altered their taste perception of healthy foods, making them seem more bitter. Mint gum chewers opted for junkier, sweet or salty food to snack on later.
