Retail analysts say October is the best time to buy. The back-to-school rush is over and stores will be jacking up the jeans prices again by mid-November. Here are some other October bargains:

• Health Insurance: If you have a choice, now is a good time to shop around for the best benefits. October is when most health plans welcome new members.

• Broadway tickets: It’s an off month on the Great White Way. Prices are down, even for tickets to a future show.

• Air conditioners: They’re not in big demand right now and retailers need to get rid of last season’s inventory.

• A horse: Boarding horses in the winter is expensive. A lot of private owners, camps and tourist operations are selling right now.
