For most people, good personal hygiene involves taking at least one shower per day – but could that be making you dirtier?
According to medical researchers, every time we lather up and rinse, we’re actually just spreading aroud skin-borne bacteria. That’s why surgical teams and patients are restricted from showering before entering an operating room. Showering too much has also been found to be damaging to your skin. We’re just washing off the protective outer layer which was trying to protect the fragile new cells underneath.
So how often should we shower? Every other day is sufficient for most people. If you can’t stand the thought of it, keep your daily showers brief and avoid really hot water and over scrubbing.
