Coffee is good for us. So is it safe for our kids?

More kids are drinking coffee these days - and experts say that’s a bad idea.

While coffee has some redeeming qualities for adults, it can be rough on a kid’s body. Too much caffeine can be dangerous and even result in hyperactivity, insomnia, nausea, headaches, anxiety and even muscle tremors or irregular heartbeat. Kids who drink coffee are often already getting a hefty dose of caffeine from other sources such as soda or energy drinks, and that seemingly harmless cup of joe could put them at an increased risk.

Keep in mind, some favorite treats at the coffee shop such as frappuccinos, vanilla lattes and teas have caffeine too. Caffeine dependency can set in fast, causing physical withdrawal when they go without.
