Mouth Breathers

If your kid breathes through their mouth – you might want to get that fixed...

We’re all SUPPOSED to be breathing through our noses – but a lot of us are mouth-breathers. According to orthodontist Yosh Jefferson – it can be a big problem for kids. Mouth-breathing irritates the tonsils and adenoids. It can interfere with sleep and oxygen levels, leaving kids tired and irritable and more prone to ADD and hyperactivity.

And if that’s not bad enough – Dr. Jefferson also says mouth-breathing can actually lead to long-face syndrome – which he describes as long, narrow faces with unattractive features. Severe mouth-breathing is easiest to treat at a young age – and usually requires an orthodontist.
