...especially if it’s cold water. Drinking water while eating slows our digestion and the colder the water is, the harder your body will work at warming it up. The ancient science of Ayurveda recommends we avoid drinking water for 30 minutes before and after we eat – and many modern scientists agree. If you must drink something with your meal, sip on a room temperature beverage, preferably not alcohol which also slows digestion.
